The Music Center complex opened December 6, 1964 as public/private not-for-profit partnership with the County of Los Angeles which still owns the facility. The County provided the site and raised the remaining $14 million using mortgage revenue bonds.
The Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles/ Music Centre welcomes more than 1.3 million people each year to performances by four internationally renowned performing arts companies which include: Los Angeles Philharmonic Center Theatre Group (CTG); Los Angeles Opera; and Los Angeles Master Chorale. The Music Center also offers Dance at the Music Center a series of internationally acclaimed performances that represent traditional and contemporary techniques and styles from around the world.
